Living Beyond Disappointment

Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. –Psalm 30:5 NLT

Disappointment can feel like the end, but it doesn’t have to be. It can actually be the beginning! You may say, “That’s impossible! How can anything good come out of what I’m going through?” God loves to reveal Himself in difficult situations. We view them as impossible, but He doesn’t. Because nothing is “impossible” in His eyes (Luke 1:37). He absolutely enjoys moving in unlikely ways through unlikely people in unlikely circumstances—revealing His love to them and through them!

His redemptive work is so amazing it can appear unbelievable, as He exchanges His beauty for our ashes! He restores what we can so easily discard. He brings value to things we have deemed worthless. It was said of Jesus’ hometown, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”—an unlikely place for a Savior to be raised. Jesus was the “tender root that sprang up out of dry ground”—an unlikely place for a tender plant to grow. One of the greatest paradoxes is the way His death on the cross brings life to the world. It was said that His crucifixion was so gruesome; people were aghast—unable to even look upon Him.  Now, we fix our eyes on Jesus! He is the desired of nations. Lifted up on a cross, impaled as a common criminal, He now draws all people to Himself. He has worldwide magnetism.  The stone once rejected is now the Chief Cornerstone!

He actually does work all things together to accomplish His purposes in us. Things we believe will destroy us He fully implements to transform us, causing us to see more of Jesus and become more like Him (Romans 8:28,29). God doesn’t waste one of our trials. Rather, He uses them to prepare us to fulfill our destiny. He is far from indifferent when we go through difficulty. He completely empathizes with us, fully experiencing what we experience. He’s a Wonderful Counselor. He’s the deeply compassionate Shepherd of our souls. But He’s also an amazing Redeemer, able to maximize whatever life throws at us. Disappointments can’t keep Him from fulfilling His appointments for us!

DECLARATION: Lord, You are worthy! You are worth trusting! And You are worth waiting for—as You are working all things together for Your best in my life!
