Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.” (emphasis mine) John 14:6
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy
he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of
Jesus Christ from the dead… (emphasis mine)” 1 Peter 1:3
Any area of our lives for which we have no hope is under the influence of a lie. – Bill Johnson
We are being bombarded with more information than any generation ever has before. Unfortunately, much of the information we are receiving is laced with opinion, politics, or unbelief. Even the experts that are endlessly paraded before us do not agree on what the truth is.
Pilate was faced with this situation when Jesus was on trial before him. Many different voices were trying to tell him who Jesus was. Was He a king who threatened the empire or was He from another kingdom of which Pilate had not yet encountered? Pilate walked away questioning what the truth really was and if he was even able to know it.
We may be tempted to question the same thing, but those of us who follow Christ can discover the truth (little “t”) because we know The Truth (big “T”). Jesus said “…the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” (John 18:37) As we listen to the Spirit of Truth we are comforted and full of hope because we know The Living Hope and The Living Truth and what a comfort He is!
REFLECTION:
- Ask the Spirit to reveal if there is any area in your life that has been under the influence of a lie and in
which you feel hopeless, then ask Him to reveal Jesus to you as The Truth. - Make a point to silence every voice that tries to bring fear or hopelessness into your life. Turn off that program,
change the topic of conversation, or challenge that perspective. Introduce doubt to Jesus.
DECLARATION: I know The Truth and knowing Him sets me free and fills me full of hope!
